چکیده
Background: Significant aortic regurgitation at the time of left ventricular assist device (LVAD) implantation, requires concomitant valve (AoV) replacement or repair. However, impact AoV surgery on morbidity remains unknown. Therefore, our aim is to determine thromboembolic and bleeding events. Methods: A retrospective IMACS registry study, including patients implanted from 2013 until September 2017. Differences between different modalities were analyzed. Results: In total, 785 (5.1%) out 15.267 (median age 58 IQR 49-66 years, 79% male) underwent 63 54-69 84% male); 386 (49%) received biological prostheses, 71 (9%) mechanical prostheses 328 (42%) repairs. 54 (8%) with experienced a event 1016 no surgery. Only repair was associated an increased rate pump thrombosis (p=0.024). Furthermore, all nonsurgical bleedings. Following multivariable Cox regression, remained independent predictor for events. Conclusions: LVAD undergoing surgery, rates not higher, however both higher. thrombosis.

Left Ventricular Assist Device Implantation with Concomitant Aortic Valve and Ascending Aortic Replacement
Left ventricular assist device (LVAD) is nowadays a routine therapy for patients with advanced heart failure. We present the case of a 74-year-old male patient who was admitted to our center with terminal heart failure in dilated cardiomyopathy and ascending aortic aneurysm with aortic valve regurgitation. The LVAD implantation with simultaneous aortic valve and supracoronary ascending aortic r...

He had been hospitalized several times over the past 2 years for congestive heart failure and progressive worsening of left ventricular (LV) ejection fraction, clinical...
متن کاملIncreased Thromboembolic Events With Dabigatran Compared With Vitamin K Antagonism in Left Ventricular Assist Device Patients
BACKGROUND Left ventricular assist device-supported patients are usually anticoagulated with a combination of aspirin and vitamin K antagonists. Long-term vitamin K antagonist therapy can be complicated by unstable international normalized ratio values and patient-related compliance problems. Therefore, direct thrombin inhibitors may represent an alternative to vitamin K antagonists. METHODS ...

Physical examination revealed cool extremities with bilateral leg edema, jugular venous distension, systolic murmur, a...
متن کاملNumerical characterization of hemodynamics conditions near aortic valve after implantation of Left Ventricular Assist Device.
Left Ventricular Assist Devices (LVADs) are implantable mechanical pumps that temporarily aid the function of the left ventricle. The use of LVADs has been associated with thrombus formation next to the aortic valve and close to the anastomosis region, especially in patients in which the native cardiac function is negligible and the aortic valve remains closed. Stagnation points and recirculati...
